Mellow Jelly Micellar Cleanser

This is an impressive formula. You can tell it was formulated extremely intentionally. The founder is incredibly smart and I trust anything she makes. I do like having that pre cleanse without water on my face and this can be a little hard to move around without your face being wet. I prefer to do it dry and then emulsify and you can do that it's just a little bit harder. The other flight criticism that I have of the formula is the smell. It is a very hard to describe smell but it's definitely not pleasant. It reminds me of like an herbal tea that I know is good for me but I do not want to drink lol.

But honestly if I had to choose between this smell and a fragrance I'm going to choose how it smells because I know that it's not using masking fragrances. It's not super overwhelming but if you're extremely hypersensitive to Smells it may not be for you. But then again it might not bother you it honestly is just such a subjective experience. But regardless I'm happy with it and I will definitely be repurchasing.

I have dry, super sensitive skin. 23yo. I also am acne-prone but my acne is very very mild, just CCs and a whitehead here and there. I definitely can get huge acne breakouts when I use the wrong products though. Most cleansers say you should massage them in for 20-60 seconds, I almost never do that because it makes my skin STING. I have tried all the holy grail cleansers for sensitive skin recommended on reddit. The most mild one I settled on (before mellow jelly) is still too harsh for my skin. I usually literally just apply a thin layer of cleanser then rinse it off within 5 seconds. And only wash my face once a day, sometimes less. But I wanted to wear SPF more, and if I don’t remove it thoroughly it makes my acne break out more… so I saw someone recommend this cleanser in the fungal acne subreddit and was so desperate for a holy grail that I paid for the express shipping to get it asap. I’m so glad I did! This one I can massage into my skin for 60 seconds without any burning or stinging. AND I can use it every day, twice a day! My acne has been going down since I started. It can’t remove SPF on its own so in the evening, I use micellar water first then this cleanser. I haven’t found the perfect moisturizer to go with it yet. I’m still experimenting with Super Sensa— my skin definitely absorbs it better than any other moisturizer I’ve tried, but it still isn’t hydrating enough on it’s own after a thorough cleanse. The hydration wears off and my face gets red and starts stinging by midday. But mixing it with a couple drops of mct oil or beta glucan serum helps lessen the midday sting quite a bit, and I read a review saying tidy pores is more hydrating than super sensa, so I might try that next. My skin is super super reactive so it isn’t perfect but these products are DEFINITELY a much better match than anything I’ve found so far! The mellow jelly especially is my first ever HG for sure! Feeling so lucky that I gave it a try. (In the pics I was using my hand to track how red my face is lol, the red pic was after removing spf with my last cleanser, and the other is after removing it with mellow jelly! then moisturizing ofc)

Mellow Jelly Cleanser is that girl and she knows it. No foam, no fuss, just thick, glossy, gooey goodness that glides on damp skin like jelly in its soft girl era. She looks cute, feels luxe, and quietly gets the job done.
The ingredients? Thoughtful and intentional. One percent ectoin guarding the barrier like a chic little bodyguard, four percent betaine keeping things cushy and calm, and two percent trehalose saying hydrated, unbothered, in your lane. It is a micellar based cleanser, so while she is not here to melt a full face of makeup, she absolutely understands the assignment for daily cleansing.
I have rosacea, ultra sensitive skin, and a routine that does not play around. Tazarotene at night with a thick ceramide moisturizer. Mornings rotate azelaic acid or a vitamin C derivative like Tidy Pores, followed by Super Sensa and a non waterproof Korean SPF because American sunscreens still feel loud and outdated on my skin. Through all of this, Mellow Jelly delivers. Clean but never tight. Fresh but never squeaky. Calm skin is the real flex.
The texture had me curious at first because no foam makes you pause, but trust me, she cleans. Week two brought a tiny sting for a few seconds and then she said never mind and disappeared. My skin adapted and has been smooth sailing ever since. I dot it around my face, gently massage, rinse, and glow on with my life.
Christina created a formula that is sensible, skin smart, and refreshingly drama free. I am excited to see how she evolves this cleanser and what else comes from her brand. Also, major bonus points because she replies to emails personally and actually gets to know her customers. Authentic is not just the name, it is the vibe.

I’ve never had a holy grail skincare product until now. My skin is super sensitive to a lot of ingredients- specifically heavy oils and this formulation works so well for me. It’s calmed my skin down A LOT.

Love this cleanser! I worked in the beauty industry for over 10 years and tried MANY cleansers from many high end brands. This is my #1. 43 years old, sensitive/reactive skin, rosacea, oily nose, rest of face is dry-normal. I get some minor blemishes on and around my nose, and bigger, painful, hormonal blemishes around my mouth. This cleanser removes impurities without stripping the dry parts of my skin. Did not notice any scent and had no burning or any type of reaction after using it. You won't miss the suds of a foaming cleanser once you see how happy your skin is :)

Nice cleanser. I like the texture. After using it, I don't feel that it's squeaky clean, which is good. Also works good for shaving. I like it a lot.

My skin loves it! I’ve never had a face wash like this one. Skin feels soft and silky after, no tightness. I’ve been on a very basic (Vanicream) routine since finding out I have seb derm. Being that I was nervous about trying anything I thought this basic routine is all I’ll ever use. Luckily I found this line of skincare and though I still cling to my Vanicream it feels so nice to have some more luxurious options to treat my skin with/throw into the mix!

This is great for seb derm, perioral dermatitis and acne rosacea. Does not aggravate either condition.

Absolutely amazing. I have such sensitive skin and it's impossible to find a cleanser that doesn't have coconut derivatives in it. My skin was happier immediately. The next day, the inflammation was down 70%. It continues to improve and reduce irritation and acne. Absolute game changer

I really wanted to like this cleanser and gave it a good go. Unfortunately, I couldn't make it work. I didn't feel like it got my skin clean, and was bothered by the smell. I typically like using a lower pH, low foam cleanser, and felt like I needed 2-3 cleanses of this at night (even when not wearing makeup or water resistant sunscreen). I use all fragrance free products and don't mind the ketchup like smell of Tidy Pores. But, this cleanser smelled strongly metallic to me, like paint, and I couldn't get over it. I am in perimenopause so it's possible my hormones have me smelling something that no one else does. My skin is sensitive, combination, and acne prone. I live in a hot, humid climate for most of the year and have hard water. I think this was just too gentle a cleanser for me, personally. I did not have any adverse reactions while using this product, and found it to be very gentle. I still love the brand and ethos. While my skin is sensitive and I am quite prone to both folliculitis and seborrheic dermatitis (yes, I have been formally diagnosed and treated by an MD), it is not currently sensitized, irritated, flared, dry or barrier compromised - so I prefer to go with a product that has bit more cleansing power instead.

The only cleanser which did not give me cystic acne!

Never irritates my skin, washes my skin without leaving it irritated. The only cleanser I use. The only thing I don’t love is that it’s a very clear pink and doesn’t foam, so sometimes it’s hard to tell if I’ve applied it to my entire face, but that’s not a big deal, not worth knocking off a star. I love this product BECAUSE it isn’t a foaming cleanser!

I was looking for an acne safe, fragrance free cleanser that doesn’t clog my pores or make my sensitive, dehydrated skin feel tight. I had only ever found one other cleanser that works for me, but it doesn’t clean very deeply.

I’m super happy that I tried this Mellow Jelly cleanser. It’s everything I was looking for, and I’m kind of amazed at how well it gets residual oil off of my face from my first cleanser without any stripping.

Bonus: the packaging is cute and the texture makes it fun to use.

I have oily, acne-prone skin that seems to break out from everything (even Vanicream’s cleanser), but this has become my holy grail cleanser. The jelly texture feels so luxurious and leaves my skin hydrated, plump, soft, and comfortable without any foam or that tight, stripped feeling. I genuinely look forward to using it every day, and it’s made me want to try the rest of the Authentic Ego line.

This is the nicest cleanser I’ve EVER used. Really doesn’t strip my skin at all, cleanses well enough for me although I don’t wear heavy makeup etc.

I was using super sensa moisturiser and my skin massively improved and then when I added this too, my skin has been even calmer and clearer. Never thought I’d reach a point where my skin was consistently well behaved.

I can’t wait for the new products to come out
